My Bicycle Loves You
Legs on the Wall (Australia)
Commissioned by Perth International Arts Festival with Sydney Festival. Directed by Patrick Nolan

Named after one of the great films used in the show, My Bicycle Loves You is an uplifting cabaret of vaudeville, acrobatics, a little magic and rambunctious piano hall music.

The early 1900s were the golden age of travelling entertainment. Among the top acts touring Australia and the world were The Corrick Family, comprised of mum, dad, seven daughters and one son, who amazed onlookers with a mystical new medium known as 'moving pictures'.

A century later, Legs on the Wall have dug out these extraordinary black and white and hand-coloured movies and are using them to play with the entertainers of yesteryear. You'll be dazzled as modern performers interact with brilliant characters from the past in this work filled with live musicians, conjurers, magic chooks, wild animals, crazed dinner party guests and half a dozen matadors charging the stage.

The vision splendid is greatly enhanced by some terrific, quirky music played by a hot quartet. It [My Bicycle Loves You] was physical theatre of a high order. THE WEST AUSTRALIAN

The beauty of this work is its joyous nature. Filled with high energy acrobatics and nostalgic movies, the show is a fast paced visual and aural feast. PERTHNOW

Every work in its repertoire is distinctly different and original ... Legs on the Wall always takes its audience on both a physical and intellectual journey. AUSTRALIAN STAGE
