'Minang Mainitch' Indigenous Weaving Festival
Yorga Moorditj Weaving Group and Western Australia Museum - Albany

Since 2008 the Women's Weaving Group have been reclaiming traditional weaving techniques and using authentic materials, inviting Indigenous and non-Indigenous weavers to work with them and provide mentorship. Now they're opening their project to the world for an enlightening and engaging two-day festival.

Join Indigenous weavers from Papua New Guinea, New Zealand, South Africa, the South Pacific nations, other First Australians and local artisans as they share stories, techniques, songs and dances in open workshops and demonstrations. This one-of-a-kind gathering also includes woven objects on display and an exhibition hosted by the Western Australian Museum - Albany.
