Get in touch with your inner teenager for the long-awaited return of 1990s mainstays Swervedriver. Lost to the world following the band's implosion on their 1998 Australian tour, the boys who put adrenaline into shoegaze have reformed by popular demand to mark the re-release of seminal albums Raise, Mezcal Head and Ejector Seat Reservation. They've toured the USA and played at Coachella and All Tomorrow's Parties curated by My Bloody Valentine. Now they're back down under. Let’s hope the band emerges intact from this Australian tour ...

Mezcal Head really is the lost classic of the shoegaze movement, visceral but tuneful, and perhaps the nearest simulation of a rocket launch recorded in the 90s.  PITCHFORK

Standing Show

First on stage: The Leap Year
The Leap Year are a band from Perth formed in 2006 and comprised of Rob Schifferli on guitar and vocals, Martin Allcock on guitar and vocals, Paul Haimes on bass, keyboards and vocals and Chris Reimer on drums. The band create loud atmospheric walls of guitar noise underpinned by subtle songwriting and minor keys.

Over the past few years, the band has become known for high-volume live shows, sharing stages with bands such as Low, Spoon, Shooting at Unarmed Men and Jebediah. The band have played In The Pines, been nominated for a Western Australian Music Industry Award (Best Indie song category) and toured to the eastern states.

The band's debut album, With a Little Push, a Pattern Appears, has sold out of its first pressing. Their follow-up in due in 2011.

Pre-show and After Party: DJ Moogy
DJ Moogy is probably Perth's most eclectic DJ, playing sets encompassing everything from funk, soul, disco, Latin bugalu, electronica, free jazz and indie rock. He has had long-running successful residencies, such as Foxxxy at the Hyde Park Hotel and Ritmo at The Flying Scotsman, and has appeared at fundraisers for RTRFM, such as Genge's Night Fever, In The Pines and Spring In Sao Paolo.

He DJs regularly at Perth Festival and has cultivated sets around artists as diverse as Stereolab, Vashti Bunyan, Damo Suzuki (of Can), Radio Birdman, and Dirty Three. He also founded Australia's most vibrant Latin music radio show, El Ritmo Latino on RTRFM.
