Ballet at the Quarry
West Australian Ballet (Australia)

Elegant choreography in a unique outdoor setting

World-renowned choreographer Jirí Kylián refers to Un Ballo as 'a dance to music, nothing more - an exercise in musicality and sensitivity between male and female partners'. Created while Kylián was Artistic Director of Nederlands Dans Theater, this beautiful staple of the contemporary ballet repertoire is presented for the first time in Australia by West Australian Ballet as the Quarry Amphitheatre awakens to another gorgeous season under the stars.

This summer's program also features: the world premiere of new choreography by Ivan Cavallari, set to the bravura strains of Maria Callas; as well as Uwe Scholz's masterpiece, Seventh Symphony, featuring sublime choreography to Beethoven's immortal score.

Suitability: ages 13+/years 8-12 Dance, Music, Drama
Themes: 20th and 21st-century choreography
