Young adult novelists Bernard Beckett and Anthony Eaton have explored realism and fantasy in their writing. In this session, they discuss developing characters and dialogue in a work of realism as compared to the language skills and world-building required when writing a piece of fantasy. Come and find out what elements these genres have in common.

Thrilling Adventures with Brian Falkner

Brian Falkner's adventures always have readers on the edge of their seats; from brilliant computer hackers to teenage pranksters, his characters are not your typical action heroes. Listen as Brian reveals the making of an apocalyptic realm in his thrilling science fiction novel Brainjack and the story of a terrible secret and high school prank gone wrong in new novel The Project.

Situated near the Arts Faculty the Perth Writers Festival hub provides easy access to sessions, great cafe for lunch, coffee or a chat over a glass of wine and an extensive bookshop. Transport Located at the University of WA Campus on Stirling Highway, and is serviced by buses on both Stirling Highway and Mounts Bay Road. There is a set down / pick up point behind the theatre suitable for cars, taxis, maxi taxis & small buses. Enter off Hackett Drive adjacent to University House.
